of pigs, dogs and err... monyet

I thought long and hard before typing this entry because it could somehow offend some readers (as if I have so many readers!). But I decided to go ahead anyway because I really am anxious to know your respond to this matter. It's not THAT important or big of an issue. It's just something out of my life that I need some perspective to reflect upon. Maybe.

About a week ago, I had this conversation with one of my sisters:

"Kalau Along marah, Along panggil kau b*b*, kau marah tak?"
"Alah, normal la tu! Semua orang pun guna perkataan tu,"
"Ok. Kalau Along marah, Along panggil kau a*j*ng, kau marah tak?"
"Hoih! Gile Along ni!"
"Nape lak?"
"Yela, ade ke pulak panggil orang macam tu,"
"A*j*ng boleh pegang tak?"
"Kalau dia kering, tangan kita pun kering boleh,"
"B*b*?"
"Tak boleh,"
"Antara a*j*ng dengan b*b*, mane yang kau paling jijik?"
"B*b*-la!"
"Then kenapa lak leh panggil kau b*b* tapi takleh panggil a*j*ng?"

At this point my sister scratched her head.

"Entahla. A*j*ng tu macam kasar je bunyi dia,"
"So b*b* tu tak kasar?"
"Hmm. Tak kot,"

That was her answer. And I have my own answer. I believe that the 'b*b*' word is so often used in our community that it has become a norm. 'B*b*' is short and direct, while 'a*j*ng' is a bit long. What I mean to say is this, 'b*b*' is not considered as kasar because most of us use it almost all the times. Now, my question is, why do we have to resort to calling people 'b*b*' or anything at all? We are all humans, Allah's creation. Why do we have to insult each other? Is it not like insulting Allah's creation? Hmm...

I even asked a friend of mine the same question I asked my sister. And I get the exact reaction. I explained to him the reason for the question and he laughed.

"Good observation. You belajar psychology ke?"
"Bukan. Just curious aje,"
"Human nature la kot to degrade other human being so that dia rasa superior,"
"Maybela...."
"But you bloggers have your own mascot kan?"
"Huh? Ada ka?"
"Adaaaa. Tu, menantu PM kata, bloggers are monyet! Hahahaha!"
"Cis! You pun samala!"
"Aik? Apa pulak I? Relevan ke?"
"Laa... Tok Guru kan panggil you Orang Utan! Hahahaha!"
"Cis!"

  1. oh really? menantu PM kata bloggers are monyet? to me kan ummi, those yang panggil bloggers monyet itu lah monyet sebenarnya. memang betul.. tak baik kita mengata orang guna names yang tak sedap didengar oleh empunya diri. Dalam Quran pun ada cakap rasanya.

betul tu. people dah biasa sebut b*b* tu.. budak2 pun ramai yang sebut so, dah terbiasa.. tapi tak semestinya ianya elok. Kenapa perlu samakan manusia yang berakal dengan haiwan yang tak berakal kan...

  2. Kak Neeza: it was a hot issue back then when that fella labeled us bloggers as monyet, without looking at the mirror himself, I suppose. dah jadi mcm satu culture kan name calling ni. bergaduh je keluar la b*b* tu. bile bdk2 yg sebut, lagila x sedap. so we as the grown ups have to show good examples la kan.

  6. incik Orang Utan: I blog for free, man! And besides, I didn't even mention your name. It could be anyone la. Hahahahahaha!!!

neome: In certain situation, I can fully accept it. Situation like rude and demented drivers on the road. That's about the only time I will hear my mom curse and call other ppl b*b*

kak Reen: selalu je org sebut perkataan tu, kak. Me tgh latih diri agar tak terkeluar label2 yg x brape sedap tu dr mulut. Tapi kan, sometimes pelik gak bile dgr org yg mkn b*b* ckp org lain b*b*. X pelik ke?

Words could heal... or it could hurt or maybe, it won't bring any difference. Either way, just type away!
