it's not perfect but...

Hear ye, hear ye, hear ye! So I've been awarded with Interesting Blog Award from my childhood friend, Ila Nadia. Why, thank you, Ila, for the award. I'm flattered. Really I am. Because for one, I've never thought of my blog being interesting for all the mindless rants.

Here's it is!

Thank you again, Ila!

Of course, I have to answer few questions (instead of making long winded acceptance speech like they do in Academy Award) in order to 'officiate' the award. So here it goes:
  1. What's the friend's blog to your eyes?
    Lots of my friends are now married but I don't really know how their married lives are. I go to her blog to get glimpses of her married life. I'm fascinated by it. Don't ask me why.

  2. The title of your blog and the reason behind it.
    Well, I think it's pretty obvious, no? Life is never perfect. Mine is not, at least. But that's the way I love it.

  3. The reason behind your blog URL.
    Read it here

  4. Your style of writing.
    This blog is like a personal space for me to rant to my heart's content so mostly my posts are my personal craps. Yes, sometimes I'll do reviews (books and movies mostly) but mostly, they are about my personal life.

  5. What do you think when you look at other people's blogs and compare it to yours?
    We all have our own preferences, no? What's the point in having such bombastic design when the contents are useless? Honestly, I think a lot of blogs out there are like that right now. Indah rupa dari isi.

  6. When did you start to blog?
    March 2006.

  7. Who's the first person to follow your blog?
    None other than Wani.
I'm suppose to tag other people or give out this award to other people but you know what? All of you (yang ada blog la!), you people are winner in your own way. So there you go.

brand new look

Okay. So finally after so much deliberation and *ehem* procrastination, I managed to give my blog a brand new look. I thought the new template is kinda nice and fresh compared to the previous dark template. My only complain is that the sidebar is a bit narrow. Any idea how to expand it without jeopardizing the whole look? I totally sucked at the codings and HTML stuff. If any of you know how to expand the sidebar, you gonna have to explain it step by step.

So, what do you think? Drop me a line or two regarding this new look. I'm still trying to work some things out, though. But in the meanwhile, I think I'll stick with this template.

a story in the making...

It has indeed been a while since I got my creative *ehem* juices flowing. Work and other stuff has kept me away from doing the things I used to love. One of them is creative writing. I love writing. It comes hand in hand with my passion for reading. I used to write short stories back when I was in high school. I wrote poems during my university years, which I once submitted for a competition during English Language Week and won the second place eventually. I remember the poem I submitted was about child of war. Sadly, when my laptop crashed, the poem disappeared, along with other stuff.

I've written two novels during high school, which was never published. Both the novels are what I call 'Novel syok sendiri'. My sisters love the novels, though. They read it over and over again, even after so many years. Some of my friends read it as well and I've got mixed reaction. It was positive reaction but I'm still not convinced, until today. There are so many talented writers out there today that I believe I could not measure up to. That is why, until now, I do not take writing seriously. It has become a hobby.

There are a few poems I've written in a special book (lesson learned) and some I wrote in my diary (yes, diary). The poems are, more or less, where I poured all my feelings/emotions into. I'm not really a verbal person so I bare everything in the form of writings, be it in the form of blogging, instant messaging or SMS-ing. I express myself better with writings rather than through my mouth. I think that most people who knew me well understand how I operate.

However, the chance has open up for me to get my creative *ehem* juices flowing again. A Story in The Making is a blog created by Uncle Ariffin to encourage people to participate in creative writing. Uncle Ariffin started off the story with a kidnapping of a child and from that on, various people, including yours truly has been adding their ideas to the story. Head on over to A Story in The Making to read the story. Who knows, maybe you can do your part as well? Make it more exciting and thrilling to read. It's in Malay so I doubt it will be too difficult to come up with anything.

Thus here, I quote Uncle Ariffin - Ilham anda, cerita kita!

Write away, my friends!

award #2

Not that I'm counting. Oh, who am I kidding!? It's an award, not a daily occurrence, mind you. Well, at least not for me laa! Anyways, I wanna say a trillion thanks to Kak Misha for this award. Thank you for even considering me to accept this award. This is the award... tadaaah!

There are rules, however, to accept this award which I must abide to. The rules are:
  1. Put the logo/award in your blog
  2. Link the entry to the person who awarded it to you
  3. Give/nominate the award to another seven (7) blogger friends
  4. Link the nominees/receivers
  5. Inform them about it
Simple! So here are the seven lucky people I've chosen:
  1. Kak Neeza's A Slice of Bledho (not sure whether you've received this one before 'cos you've won many already :P)
  2. Suria's Addicted to Coffee (your first award kot!)
  3. Soraya Hani's Heartless Angel (a belated welcome back present)
  4. Kakak's Through My Heart (a motivation for you to update the blog)
  5. 13 May's Layan Kepala (always love your blog!)
  6. Neome's Mundane (for those thought-provoking and confused entries)
  7. Lynne's Life After Work (for those funny entries... and weird recipe)
There you go. Congratulations, I suppose.

Thanks again Kak Misha for the award!

my first award!

Yay!!! An award for me *grins broadly*! This award is given by 13 May for the support shown to him and his blog, Layan Kepala. Hence, the award is given the name "Supportive Blogger Award". The story behind this award is a rather fascinating one, if you ask me. You can go here and here to know more.

Ladies and gentlemen, I present to you, the "Supportive Blogger Award". Tadaaa~

Nice, huh?

A very big thanks to 13 May for this award. Should I thank Lu Pikir Laa Sendiri (bukan nama sebenar) as well? After all, he's the one real reason why May comes up with this award. Ye ke, May? Hehehe!

By the way, if you are interested in reading May's blog, make sure you have an open mind as well as matured enough. If not, you'll just end up looking like a bloody fool like Lu Pikir Laa Sendiri (bukan nama sebenar).

Thanks again, May!

new template

As you've noticed, I changed my blog template. It's kinda clean and simple. But I have to admit I still love the old classic one. This one is the beta version. I thought it's about time I change the template.

What do you think of this template?

Or should I just stick with the old classic one?

Any suggestion?

Please do let me know, ya!

In the meantime, I'll leave this new template to get myself accustomed to it. Maybe, just maybe, I'll get used to it. Who knows?

wahleci, the revelation

It's funny sometimes how a word could invite so many questions and guesses. A word like 'wahleci' for instance. Eh. Actually, 'wahleci' is not a one-word word (did I get my sentence correct?). 'Wahleci' is actually 'buah laici' or lychee. Where did the 'wahleci' come from? I guess it was my way of being cute *puke*. And why am I using 'wahleci'? I'll tell you, not to worry.

There was time when I was hooked to Maxis WAP Chat. It was the time when the Internet is not my everyday food. It was the time when laptop and PC is just for games and movies and music... and assignments, of course. So my way of interacting with other people was via Maxis WAP Chat. When first stepping into the chatting world, I was at lost as to what nickname I should be using. I didn't want something trashy or too girly. Somehow, the word 'lychee' came into my mind, thus 'lychee' was born. From 'lychee', the nickname spurned into something else. Soon, people started calling me 'leci'. And from 'leci', it became 'lecikang', 'buah leci' and in the end, it was 'wahleci'.

And 'wahleci' isn't just a mere nickname for me. Through 'wahleci', I met someone that until now affectionately calls me 'leci'. I've known him for a while now. We was attracted to each other at the earlier part of our relationship, but I wasn't ready for any commitment yet. So we stay as friends, until now. He's more like a brother to me now. And he's married. I congratulated him on his engagement once here.

So, in a way, 'wahleci' is a special name for me. When I first started this blog, 'wahleci' was still pretty much a part of me. Now, it is just a fragment of a memory. A special one at that. And that, my friends, is why the 'wahleci' word in my URL.

one double O

*Sniff, cough, sniff, cough*

Got hit by the flu, yet again after the fever drama. The coughing fit threw me off balance for a couple of days, hence the disappearance from the blogging world for a very short while. My fingers itched during those while to blog-hopping and type something, anything. And this is, ladies and gentlemen, my 100th post for this blog! After almost 2 years of my stint as a blogger, I finally come to my 100th post. Not that it matters much to me but knowing that I could actually keep this blog alive is some sort of an achievement to me.

Anyway, for this 100th post, I'm posting a commercial video. A local commercial video, which I find quiet amusing... and a bit scary.

So, whaddya think?
*winks!*

bloggers appreciation

I've been meaning to do this for quiet sometimes, but then my blog kinda disappeared and I was discourage to do so. But now, the blog is back and there could be no better time than now to do this.
Let me start off by saying that a blog could mean nothing at all to some people. A person once told me that he hates blogger because 'bloggers ni syok sendiri'. His words were like a dagger stabbing my heart. He also said that bloggers only write about themselves. Well, heck, how shallow can one be! I told him not to be quick to judge. But he said 'itulah kenyataannya'. Obviously he knows nothing about blog or the bloggers. I say: Biarkan Si Luncai dengan labu-labunya.
For all I know, each and every single blog is unique. They tell different story. They have their own identity. I know that what is written on every blog comes from the blogger's heart. It's passion. Not 'sekadar suka-suka'.
Here's what I thought of some of my fellow bloggers...
::Wani::
A very close friend of mine, she is the one who inspires me to start a blog. A very opiniated lady I must say this one. I like her blog because it screams 'This is ME' (at least I thought so). No pretense, no nonsense. Simply Wani to the core.
::Azlynne::
Man oh man... I just lurvvvv her blog! It's witty and thoughtful. One post I love the most is "Lynne's Ribena?Long Island Ice Tea Challenge". Why so? Because I'm a Ribenaholic and I thought it is plain ridiculous that Ribena contains alcohol. And the list she made... that was soooo hilarious. Good one, Lynne!
::Adiba::
This blog oozes personality. Adiba's personality, that's it. Her devil-may-care attitude appeals so much to me. Frankness is Adiba's currency, first and last. You go girl!
::Manny::
Ahah! This is one blogger who I always look forward to read his comments. Berpandangan jauh. That's Manny. =)
::Qasieh::
Qasieh's blog is always a pleasure to read. Funny most of the times, touching sometimes. It is originally Qasieh, just the way I know her. Simple yet heartfelt. Just keep it coming Qasieh!
There are so many other great bloggers around. Just take a moment to go through their blog and keep an open mind. Who knows, maybe you'll find something interesting...
