spot the difference?

Okay, I need you people to look at this picture closely and carefully. Look at every angle:

Saw anything out of the ordinary? No, not the blurry faces. That was done on purpose. No? Okay, let's zoom it in...

Now, do you see it?

Honestly, I can't see a thing out of the ordinary. The highlighted area suppose to show some kind of... err... entity, maybe. But honestly, it looks like the neighbor's pokok bunga. Not that I'm skeptical (or maybe I am), but seriously, do you see anything at all that looks like... err... something spooky?

knock knock. who's there?

I'm not easily spooked (seriously). And I believe myself not to be a paranoid person. I'm not very superstitious either. But yet today, I woke up feeling a bit creeped out. Sheesh.

I'm usually a light sleeper. I will wake up upon hearing the slightest noise during my slumber. I usually lock my bedroom door every night when I go to sleep. I used to leave the door unlock but after few repeated occurrences, locking the door seems like a very good idea. What happened? I always woke up in the middle of the night to see my door opened wide. The first time it happened, I scolded my sister for not closing the door properly. She was kinda confused but then again, she is always in a confused state.

The following night, I was already asleep when she entered the bedroom. She turned on the light to read a novel. I opened my eyes and reminded her to close the door properly, which she obeyed. I went back to sleep but the light was a bit disturbing. Once, I looked at the clock. It was 2.30 a.m. when suddenly, very slowly the bedroom door swung open. Simultaneously, our eyes were fixed on the door. My sleepiness fled. My sister looked at me in puzzlement.

"Kinah dah tutup betul-betul dah pintu tu," (I've closed the door properly) she said quietly.
"Tutupla pintu tu. Kunci sekali," (Just close the door. Lock it) I replied noncommittally.

She did as per instructed without any hesitation. My sister got a spine made of steel. She's not easily scared. She asked me if she should turn off the light and I said yes. I was a bit freaked out by the incident, to be honest. I saw the door swung open. Slowly. It was like something out of a horror movie. Damn! I thought to myself. I went back to sleep, nevertheless.

The next night, I myself closed the door. I even checked to see if the door would open with the gentlest of force. I did not plan to lock the door that night as I needed to convince myself that last night was just an accident, a coincident and nothing more. Somehow, I wasn't really surprise to see the door swung open yet again around 3 in the morning. Freak show. I got up, close the door, lock it and went to sleep like nothing happened.

I keep the door locked ever since. Once or twice I forgot to lock up and I will wake up to an open door. Weird, huh? After my sister went to college, I slept alone. Until today. I pile clothes and stuff on the empty bed because I do not want to wake up in the middle of the night to someone or something on the bed. Paranoid? Spooked? Maybe I am.

Last night, I made a mistake of reading this before going to bed. My imagination went on a high but I refused to be scared. I switched off the light, albeit reluctantly and played the Yassin recitation on my phone. In the setting, I set the 'Loop' on so the recitation will repeat itself over and over again. Guess what? I woke up at 3.11 a.m. to find it had indeed stopped playing the recitation. The battery was not dead. Somehow, I turned the player off by myself? I don't know. I went back to sleep anyway, with the Yassin recitation playing.

After some time, I woke up again to a knocking on the door. Now the knocking is normal because Kak Ngah always knock the door to get her clothes kept in the room, usually around 6 to 6.30 a.m. So I opened the door, without even looking and went back to bed, intending to continue my sleep. When I suddenly realized that it was pitch black outside my room. There was no one standing outside the bedroom. No Kak Ngah. No one. I looked at my phone. 4.11 a.m. The Yassin had stopped playing, again. And me? I was near to tears. I gathered the courage to shut the door, though. And managed to went back to sleep after few minutes.

I slept through my alarm. And as I was getting ready to go to work, I instinctively checked my phone, trying to figure out why the Yassin recitation stopped. The 'Loop' setting was still on. I pressed the 'Play' button. 'Playback failed'. Huh? I opened the phone's file manager and browsed the sound files. I could not believe my eyes as I browsed up and down. The Yassin.mp3 file was nowhere to be found! How could that be???

Questions after questions bombarded my mind. Did I accidentally deleted the file? If I did, when? Did I imagine the knock on the door? Or did I dreamed about it? Was I so paranoid and scared that my mind was playing tricks with me? Am I going out of my mind? I hope not. I am sleep-deprived, that's for sure.

Should I just set up a video camera in my bedroom, just like Paranormal Activity? Uh. scratch that. Not in a million years am I going to publicized myself snoring like a retarded donkey. Nor do I want to see an entity hovering over my sleeping self. Let the unseen remain unseen, shall we? Tonight, though, maybe I'll sleep with the light on.

it

There are things that, when we were young, innocent and carefree, could scare us mindless. There are ghost stories/movies that linger and stay in our minds for some time. And then there are images of fear that we carried right through our adulthood.

Remember The Exorcist? Well, I don't actually. Every single time I try to watch it, I fell asleep halfway. Every single time. I tried hard to keep my eyes open and alert but somehow, it always put me to sleep.

*gulp*

And then you have the evil doll Chucky from Child's Play. I do not have one single doll in my collection because of Chucky. I hate dolls until now. If my sister left one of her dolls/teddy bears in my room, I will quickly dispose it to other room.

I just hate dolls

But...

There will be no other movie that could scare the living daylight out of me more than IT. The made-for-TV movie was inspired by Stephen King's novel of the same title. Stephen King and horror story... damn, he's good! Until today I am creeped out when I see clowns. I just hate clowns. I can't even stand the sight of them. As soon as I see clowns, I feel the urge to run away as fast I could. That is how much It affected me. Pennywise, the clown, is the image of my fear, from my childhood through adolescence and adulthood.

After watching It, I couldn't be left alone even for a while. I imagined Pennywise everywhere I went. In the shower, in the bedroom, in the kitchen. I even imagined that his hand would shot out under the bed and pull me inside. Brrrr. As I grow up, and as I get acquainted with YouTube, I tried to watch It via YouTube. And... I failed to do so as the face of the clown alone gave me the goosebumps.

*gulp gulp gulp* *shiver*

Not only me, but my sisters hate clowns as well. All thanks to It. Oh man. That picture makes me feel cold all over!

So, do you have any character that you simply fear during your childhood?

trying times

A young girl, at the age of 15, was murdered mercilessly.
A daughter of a head village, the young girl was very pretty.
Being beautiful made her snobbish. So much so that she was killed.
She was drowned.
She lay face-down in the water, gurgling and struggling, as her life dissolved into the water...
Disturbing, ain't it? As far as I'm told, it is a true story.

The past 2 days had been disturbing to the family. Really disturbing. And frightening. It resulted in all of us sleeping downstairs. Not that we had much sleep, though.

In the daylight, we feel much safer. Comes night, we could not even go to the bathroom alone. We were told to be strong and courageous. Remember that the Almighty will protect us.

We walked around confidently in our own house before. Now every step is taken cautiously.

How long will it take for things to get back to normal?

freak accident

See that empty space beside the picture of the bird (which was taken by Kakak)?

The empty space was suppose to be filled with this...

How sad is that?

It happened last Sunday. Kak Ngah was the first person who discovered it. The frame was lying on her bed, broken. She called Kakak and Kakak called me. And we stared at the mess in a moment of silent. I was speechless for a second or two. Then I asked Kak Ngah and Kakak "What happened?". Both of them didn't have the answer to that question, of course. We were downstairs when it happened, anyway. My heart actually broke into pieces just like the glasses of the frame upon seeing it. I was the one who put up the pictures of the family. It's precious to all of us.

The question, however, is, how did it happened? Yes, it was raining at that time. Yes, the wind was blowing, but it was not strong enough to push the frame off the shelf. The Ikea frame is heavy, I tell you. It never fell before, even when the wind is strong. Never. If it was the wind, then how come the picture of the bird still sat nicely on the shelf? The picture of the bird is made merely out of a cardboard. How come the gray plastic thing did not even budge from its place? It should fell of the shelf as well because it was standing in front of the frame. And, how come the frame fell off like that? FYI, the picture was taken without moving the frame from its original position when discovered. Could somebody please give me a reasonable answer?

I'm trying my best not to be paranoid by the freak accident. In fact, I'm trying to dismiss the whole incident as just a freak accident. I don't want to put unnecessary things in my head. But then again, a lot has been happening to the family nowadays. Unwanted things. Even recently, something happened to one of my sisters which I dare not elaborate but it scared the hell out of us for a while. She wasn't herself for a few days, if you got what I mean. And I could not help but to feel the chill creeping up my back when thinking about it. Kakak experienced a weird incident once where a book came flying off the shelf and landed squarely on her face as she was sleeping on Kak Ngah's bed with her feet under the shelf. If the book 'accidentaly' fell, shouldn't it fell on her feet instead? The truth, ladies and gentlemen, is out there perhaps.

Maybe I should look up the Physics Law whatever to explain these things? Or maybe I should just dismiss the whole thing and go on like nothing ever happened?

one double O

*Sniff, cough, sniff, cough*

Got hit by the flu, yet again after the fever drama. The coughing fit threw me off balance for a couple of days, hence the disappearance from the blogging world for a very short while. My fingers itched during those while to blog-hopping and type something, anything. And this is, ladies and gentlemen, my 100th post for this blog! After almost 2 years of my stint as a blogger, I finally come to my 100th post. Not that it matters much to me but knowing that I could actually keep this blog alive is some sort of an achievement to me.

Anyway, for this 100th post, I'm posting a commercial video. A local commercial video, which I find quiet amusing... and a bit scary.

So, whaddya think?
*winks!*

is there something in the air?

I mean, most people in the blog arena is/was sick lately. Last 2 weeks Kakak was hit with a fever. Then last week, Aishah was also hit with a fever. She is yet to fully recover. And yesterday, Kak Ngah and me got the fever bug as well! *sniff sniff*

I could not even move yesterday. I could only throw up and slept through the day, from morning until evening. Mama took me to the clinic in the evening. Doc said my temperature is a tad bit high (38.7 C) and both my tonsils are swollen. Yikes! My muscles hurt everywhere, my head ache, even my eyeballs hurt! Today I feel a lot more better.

Mama must be worried sick. 3 of her kids have fever and another one is infected with something weird. First, there was blood in her pee. Then, she feels pain down there when urinating. Then, she could not err... (what's "berak" in English?) properly. Aanywaay... kesian Mama kan?

Really, is there something in the air?

***Updated: Last night, my little brother became yet another victim. Kesian dia. Mama was up from 3 a.m to look after him and did not go to sleep. She had to go to work. Kesian Mama. Syaqirin was crying a few minutes ago because he had a headache. His body is still hot. After wiping his body with a wet towel, I persuaded him to go to sleep. God knows who's next.

are you afraid of the dark?

This post could mean nothing whatsoever to some of you. What I am about to tell you is what I experienced very early this morning, around 4 a.m. It is up to you to believe it or not, but do remember, there are other beings out there besides us in this world, other beings that can't be seen by the naked eye.

I was sleeping alone at that time. I was dreaming as well. I could not recall the dream but it was a normal one, with my family in it. Suddenly, I woke up with a start. I was kinda disoriented, trying to figure out why I woke up so suddenly. Without warning, something came over me and darkness reigned. I could not move, I could hardly breathe, I could not even utter a word to save myself. I panicked. Then, came this eerie laughter, banshee-like (in Malay, the accurate word would be mengilai). I panicked even more. I could not think straight. I was scared to death. I could not even recall any holy verses.

After about 2 minutes of struggling, everything was over. But the laughter remained (in my head, perhaps). I sat still in my bed as I tried to comprehend just what had happened. I was shaking and trembling all over. It was damn scary! Fortunately, somebody was there to soothe me. Thanks very much to you, Kimi. You really helped. I really appreciate your help and words. Thanks, Kimi.

I went to sleep after Subuh, feeling much better. When I woke up, though, there were bluish marks on my chest and my neck. A bite mark was also visible somewhere on my neck, near the shoulder. It wasn't a dream then. I was actually hoping that it was all a nightmare. No such luck.

So, what do you think?

Err...ghost???

when i was a kid (a loooongg time ago), i am always curious about other-worldly-thing. simply put, ghosts. i dunno how to put this, but i've been seeing 'things' since i was a lil girl. so, i guess i must believe in the whole hantu stuff. there was this one 'incident' occured in 1995 that had me spooked for quiet some times...
  • it was in december '95. i remember the date bcoz one of my beloved uncles passed away on that very day due to cancer. it was friday. he passed away in the afternoon, after friday prayer. i was a kid at that time (11 to be exact). we (my 6 sis, bro n i) were left in a distant relatives' house along with my cousins. the house was situated in a sugarcane estate (err...or plantation?) and by nightfall, it was really dark. the atmosphere was... normal, if i could say so. i mean, we were kids at that time. a cousin (a year older than me) and me was the only one who was in a somber mood. furthermore, we have to take care of those lil brats (hehehe...). joke aside, it was a really cold that night. i got a bit lemas being inside the house, whats with the people and the crying and screaming of the kiddies. so i went outside to the front patio. it was pitch black outside. no moon, not even a single star twinkling. nvm. then, suddenly, i felt kinda weird... like someone is watching me. the hair at the back of my neck stood and i felt this sudden chill in my bone. "uh oh..." i thought. so i turned around. "WHAT THE...!??" i was looking at the back of the house, at a banana tree. on the very top of the tree, a white figure stood erect. ON THE TOP OF THE TREE. WHITE FIGURE. i must be imagining things! no way!! i just stare at that bloody thing until my vision became blurry, until i realized that my heart was pounding so hard. i have to show this to someone! so, without moving one inch, i called my sis."kak ngah, kak ngah! sini ar! cepat!!" and voila, she appeared beside me. "knape?" she asked. i pointed my finger to the... thing. she looked... and went white immediately. she gripped my arm so hard that i thought it would came off. not a single word or sound came from her mouth. then, i called one of my cousins. "suriany, suriany! sini jap...". she came to me with smiles on her face. "nape kak long?" she asked. again, i pointed at the same direction and like my sis, she went white. and so the three of us stood there, frozen, staring at that...err... thing. my brain registered this: tall white figure, long hair, face hidden, no feet. 3 people. 6 pair of eyes. no way i am imagining things. what do you think?
